Years ago Dave Loutrel, the owner of Wild Salmon Direct, grew tired of watching traditional processors take beautiful Wild Alaska Salmon and turn it into a product that he, as a fisherman, would not consider serving. Dave heard story after story about the "Alaska Surprise" from those buying Alaska salmon--they would receive a salmon that looked beautiful, but when it was cut it looked terrible.

As a longtime sport and commercial fisherman Dave knew there were two things that needed to be done to get quality salmon to the customers--the salmon had to be bled on the grounds and handled with care both on the fishing boat and throughout the supply chain all the way to the customer.

Over the years Dave has worked to refine a process that guarantees a customer that each salmon he buys will be of consistently high quality.

Today Dave, through his company Wild Salmon Direct, supplies the finest Wild Alaska Salmon available on the market. These special salmon, marketed as Fishermen's Reserve® Select Sockeye and Coho Salmon, are free from gaping, bruising, and scale loss.
